With a passion for wine and over 30 years spent in multiple wine regions, winemaker Peter Selin finally settled in Sonoma Valley, where he felt most at home pursuing his love for boutique wines. This image showcases the vineyard of the first contract signed, Pucionni Ranch, in Dry Creek, a notable area for Sonoma Valley wines.
With a love for the best fruit and boutique wines, Sonoma Valley grew as a home through the friendship and brotherhood of winemaker Chris Taddei and his extended family, the Taddei's. After a successful career in technology, moving to Sonoma Valley was a seamless transition, leading to the establishment of Selin Cellars in 2019, where the passion for Sonoma Valley wines truly flourished.
With a love for various styles of wine and winemaking methods, the aspiration was to create big, bold, velvety boutique wines that evoke a sense of fulfillment and comfort when enjoyed. I choose to focus on unique varietals, but I am fortunate to collaborate with winemaker Chris Taddei on other varietals while I concentrate on the distinctive offerings in Sonoma Valley wines.
Napa is wonderful, but it has become much more business-oriented, while Sonoma Valley wines feel so much more family-oriented to me. I feel blessed to work with some of the best Napa has to offer (with Chris), even though all my fruit is sourced from Sonoma. As a winemaker, I truly appreciate the quality of boutique wines that come from this region! I also love the other wonderful AVAs in California, but for now, I focus on local fruit.
The 2022 boutique wines have been tasting awesome, with the cab franc winning a best in class at the SF Chronicle (this is the wine that is also known as 'The Gov'ner'), and it will be released gradually. The 2023 season for Sonoma Valley wines was an odd, but a good one, featuring lower alcohol levels due to the long and cold growing season. Additionally, we have a small lot of malbec, crafted by winemaker Peter Selin in honor of our good friends from London, Anna and Richard.
I am going to try and post full information about my boutique wines, including details on my methods, vineyards, and many pictures of the vineyards and production. This includes insights into my Sonoma Valley wines and the craftsmanship of winemaker Peter Selin. Please ask any questions and let me know if you want more information posted, either here or on my Instagram.
